Curators in Residency Västmanland (CIR) på Västmanlands läns museum
I samarbete med Resurscentrum Konst Västmanland, undersöker Västmanlands läns museum möjligheten att vara en nod i Västmanland för ett curatorsresidens.
Med utgångspunkt i Västmanlands rika historia och i linje med regionens kulturella mål att främja internationalisering och gränsöverskridande möten, erbjuder en curatorsvistelse en unik möjlighet att utforska relationen mellan konst och kulturhistoria och skapa nya möten och relationer.
Under vistelsen kommer curatorerna att ha omfattande möjlighet till utforskande, där fokus ligger på att integrera Västmanlands konstnärers samtida kontext och regionens industriella kulturhistoriska arv. Detta görs med utgångspunkt i de specifika intressen hos curatorerna. Möjlighet finns att använda museets lokaler och infrastruktur för att skapa en utställning.
Museet önskar med denna möjlighet utforska alternativa vägar för att förverkliga länsmuseets uppdrag att reflektera över dåtid, nutid och framtid. Målet är att verka för mångfald och en bred syn på historien, med konstens förmåga att beröra existentiella frågor utifrån ett icke-redovisande perspektiv. Urvalet av curatorer planeras att göras genom en öppen utlysning riktad till curatorer från de nordiska och baltiska länderna.

In collaboration with the Resource Center for Art in Västmanland, Västmanlands läns museum is exploring the possibility of becoming a hub in Västmanland for a curator residency.
Building upon Västmanland’s rich history and in alignment with the region’s cultural goals to promote internationalization and cross-border encounters, a curator residency offers a unique opportunity to rejuvenate and strengthen the fields of visual and applied arts.
During the residency, curators will have extensive opportunities for exploration, with a focus on integrating the contemporary context of Västmanland’s artists and the region’s industrial cultural-historical heritage. This will be tailored to the specific interests of the curators, and there is a possibility to utilize the museum’s spaces for an exhibition.
Through this opportunity, the museum aims to explore alternative paths to fulfill its mission of reflecting on the past, present, and future. The goal is to promote diversity and a broad view of history, leveraging the ability of art to address existential questions from a non-reporting perspective. The selection of curators is planned to be conducted through an open call targeting curators from the Nordic and Baltic countries.
